2012 International Aerial Robotics Competition Schedule
of Events:
The 2012 IARC American Venue will be held 1 - 3 August 2012.
The associated Conference will be 1 August 2012.
The Schedule of
events on an hour-by-hour basis will be posted for teams
at registration.
TYPICAL Schedule at a Glance (details of days' activities may be adjusted):
July 31 (Tuesday) - Team
Registration at the Grand Forks Center for Innovation begins at 10AM. Teams will be given instructions as to how to
collect any pre-shipped equipment at that time. A joint safety and logistics
briefing will be held at noon on the campus of the University of North
Dakota (location to be given at registration). The Judges will schedule private Static Judging meetings with
each team as teams register. During the Static Judging, the teams can use Power
Point/Keynote presentations if desired. Each team's "formal" briefing
will be made to the entire group during the presentation of their Journal
Paper at the associated 2012 Symposium on Indoor Flight Issues.
August 1 (Wednesday) - The 2012
Symposium on Indoor Flight Issues begins at 9 AM. The location will
be the Grand Forks Center for Innovation adjacent to the University of North Dakota campus.
Team presentations are mandatory and will be scheduled throughout the
day of the Symposium without prior notice (teams must be ready to present
upon request by the moderator). The Judges will conduct private Static
Judging meetings with each team on this day. Practice times will be
allowed during non-symposium hours on 1 August and will run until closing.
August 2 (Thursday)-
Performance Competition begins at 9 AM in the Betty Engelstad Sioux Center. The
Betty Engelstad Sioux Center is located at One Ralph Engelstad Drive
Grand Forks, ND 58203.
The beginning flight order will be announced during the 2012 Symposium
on Indoor Flight Issues. Depending upon the number of teams entered,
the Performance Judging may extend into the followng day 3 August (Friday). Arena take-down will begin immediately after
the Performance Judging is complete.
August 3 (Friday)-
Teams can begin repacking equipment for their return trip or vacation
time if the Performance Judging does not need to roll over into 3 August. The Team Awards Banquet will commence at 6 PM and run to 9 PM (with
dinner provided at 7 PM). The venue for the Team Awards Banquet will
be announced at Registrationt. Tickets to the Awards
Banquet will be issued to team members and IARC guests at the 2012
Symposium on Indoor Flight Issues. A valid ticket (free to team
members and IARC guests) is required to enter the Awards Banquet. Additional
tickets can be purchased during Registration in the event that
non-participants or guests wish to attend (e.g., family members). A small
number of extra dinners will be set aside for this purpose.
August 2 and 3 (Thursday evening and Friday)-
Special events (TBA) will be announced at Registration and here. These
will include such things as tours and social gatherings for the teams
and guests.
